A slot seam is a decorative seaming technique that is used on pockets, blouses, dresses, jackets and coats. By sewing this sampler, you will learn how to create this unique seam finish, so that you can give your designs a tailored touch.

MODULE 1 • Lesson Prep
|1||Begin this lesson by preparing a 1 ½” (3.8cm) wide by 8” (20.3cm) long piece of white cotton printed fabric.|
|2||We will also prepare two pieces of yellow cotton printed fabric, measuring 3½” (8.9cm) wide x 8” (20.3cm) long. We are using two different colored fabrics for demonstration purposes, however you could use the same color and a different type of fabric if you choose.|
|3||Using tailor’s chalk, chalk a ½” (1.3cm) seam allowance line along the length edge of each of your 3 ½” (8.9cm) by 8” (20.3cm) fabric pieces.|
