Silk Ribbon Embroidery
In this lesson, you will learn how to create a flower motif using a tambour frame, silk ribbon and seed and tubular beads. Once you have downloaded our grid template, we will demonstrate how to prepare your fabric on a tambour frame and then how to use a combination of tools, including a tambour hook, a crewel needle and beading needle, so that you can create unique flower motif using beads and silk ribbon.

MODULE 1 • Lesson Prep
Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | For this lesson you will need a piece of silk organza measuring 15” (38.1cm) wide by 14” (35.6cm) long. |
2A | We will start, by securing our organza block to the short ends of the frame, lining up the edge of the organza to the twill tape edge of one end of the frame. Pin the organza to the twill tape along the edge. |
2B | Measure out a length of thread several inches (centimeters) longer than the width of the organza, and then thread your needle and knot the end. |
