MODULE 1 • MAPPING THE PATTERN
Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | Start, by downloading the fashion croquis and reference swatch supplied with this lesson. Print the fashion croquis to use as your canvas. |
2 | Tilt the croquis figure on the table to find the best position for you to draw. Keep your houndstooth swatch close by for reference. |
3 | With your pencil, begin mapping the horizontal lines of the houndstooth pattern starting on the left collar and right collar. Continue drawing the horizontal lines on the jacket lapel from the top to the bottom. Notice that the lines are equidistant to each other and follow the angle of the lapel. |
4A | Next, draw the pattern’s vertical lines, beginning on the left-side shoulder and then down the side of the jacket to the patch pocket. The line will continue down from the pocket to the hem. |
4B | As you add equidistant vertical lines down the left-side of the jacket, from the shoulder to the hem, follow the contours of the jacket as it rests on the body. Notice how your lines will go in at the waist and back out at the hem. |
