Rendering Faux Fur
Learn how to render faux fur, using a combination of markers, pencils, pens and other tools of the trade. Once you have downloaded the reference swatch and the female fashion croquis, you will print the fashion croquis and use it as your canvas. We will teach you how to map the fur pattern onto the croquis and then demonstrate the various steps and techniques used to create faux fur hair. The finished product is a sensational looking faux fur coat.

MODULE 1 • MAPPING THE FAUX FUR
Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | Start this lesson by downloading the fashion croquis and the reference swatch supplied with this lesson. Print the fashion croquis to use as your canvas. |
2A | With your Prismacolor black pencil, start at the collar and map the outline of the faux fur with a series of short strokes using the outline of the croquis’s coat as your guide. |
2B | Your strokes should be of varying lengths, uneven, and resemble hair as you fill in the right collar, lapel and continue along the right shoulder, sleeve and cuff. |
2C | Fill in the fur on the right side seam, sleeve inseam, the bottom of the coat and the hem of the cuff. |
