Hi, my name is Natasha Nurse and today’s lecture is on plus size magazines and shows. Approximately 91 percent of women are dissatisfied with their bodies. Only five percent of women naturally possess the body type typically portrayed by Americans in media. So seeing body diversity is an absolute must to improve self esteem and confidence amongst women. Madeline Jones, also known as Maddie is the editor-in-chief of Plus Model magazine, which is the number one publication celebrating the plus size fashion and plus modeling industry. Always an activist and looking to bring plus size women into a fashion forward mentality, in 2006 she combined forces with friend and online magazine publisher, Valerie Amador to create Plus Model magazine where they could respond to plus women’s demand for fashionable clothing displayed prominently on appropriately sized models.
