Petal Sleeve Draft
In this beginner lesson, you will learn how to create a petal sleeve using your straight sleeve sloper. The petal sleeve is a favorite and is used in childrenswear, sportswear and eveningwear. You will also learn how to use all of your drafting tools and how to true a perfect pattern.
Once you master this lesson, try your hand at other short sleeve lessons like the Puff Sleeve and the Short Flare Sleeve.

MODULE 1 • LESSON PREP
Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | For this lesson, you will need to prepare two pieces of unlined pattern paper: one measuring 16” (40.6cm) wide by 18” (45.7cm) long, the other is a 22” (55.9cm) square. |
MODULE 2 • MEASURE & TRACE SLEEVE
Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | Center your straight sleeve sloper on the 18” (45.7cm) length side of your pattern paper. |
2 | Place center marks onto the pattern paper at the bicep and elbow intersection and at the center cap. |
