Pattern Layout on One-Way Print Fabrics
This lesson is part of our series on pattern layouts. Here we will demonstrate how to plan and then lay your pattern pieces out on a print fabric that has a distinct pattern direction, known in the industry as a one-way print. Be sure to also view our lesson how to work with an engineered print.

Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | This is known as a directional print, and they require a different type of pattern layout. |
2 | This one-way print has tulips, and if you notice, every tulip is facing up, towards my right-hand side. |
3 | So, this becomes the top of the garment. |
