Learn how to measure a real life female body so that you will be able to extract the necessary measurements used in draping and pattern making. You will learn about the various names and terms used regarding female anatomy and use our downloadable chart and diagrams listing the more than 100 points of measure that are referred to in the fashion industry on spec sheets and in tech packs.

1 | For this lesson, our model is wearing a non-compression bodysuit on which we have applied horizontal and vertical guidelines, as well as other points key measuring points. We will demonstrate how to measure various areas of the body, as well as the names and terms used when referring to female anatomy. These measuring points will be useful when extracting measurements for draping and pattern making. |
2 | To help you follow along with this lesson, download our Women’s Measuring Points Chart and Diagram. These charts and diagrams list additional points of measure that you will find useful when creating tech packs. We have also provided for download, our Women’s Global Size Chart, which lists the bust, waist and hip measurements for U.S. sizes 2-18 and their global equivalents. |
