Machine-foot Baby Hem

Machine-foot Baby Hem

Machine-foot Baby Hem

This lesson is sewing a machine-foot baby hem. This hem finish can be used on sheer fabrics, such as chiffon and georgette but could also be used on other lightweight fabrics. By attaching a hemming foot to your sewing machine, we will teach you how to manipulate the fabric through the foot to create a nice hem finish that would take you days to complete if you did it all by hand. You will learn trade secrets on how to press the hem and once you finish this sampler you will be ready to try it on an actual garment.

For other sheer hem options, view our lessons:
Hand-rolled Hem Finish, Tailored Edge/Baby Hem, Horsehair Hem Finish, Ribbon-edge Hem Finish and Wide Straight-grain Hem Finish.

For sheer seam options, view our lessons: Single Edge Seam Finish, Double-stitched Seam Finish, Mock French Seam Finish and French Seam Finish.
