French Seam Finish

French Seam Finish

This lesson will teach you how to sew a French seam finish, one of the nicest looking seam finishes used not only on sheer fabrics but any other lightweight materials. You will learn the 7-step technique of how to create this seam finish and then understand why it is the favorite seam finish of the couture. Once you’ve mastered this seam sampler, you will want to try the French seam finish on your own design.

For other sheer seam options, view our lessons: Single Edge Seam Finish, Double-stitched Seam Finish and Mock French Seam Finish.

For sheer hem options, view our lessons: Hand-rolled Hem Finish, Machine-foot Baby Hem, Tailored Edge/Baby Hem, Horsehair Hem Finish, Ribbon-edge Hem Finish and Wide Straight-grain Hem Finish.
