Fabric Manipulation – Swirl Pattern
Let us teach you the art of couture fabric manipulation, using an embroidery hoop and our downloadable swirl motif pattern. You will learn the best choice of fabric to use and why and then the technique used to create this wonderful 3-D effect. You will be inspired to apply this knowledge to your designs, such as a detail on collars, sleeves, pockets, as trim or even as an entire garment!

MODULE 1 • Lesson Prep
Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | For this lesson, we have prepared a piece of wool flannel measuring 15” (18.1cm) wide by 13” (33cm) long. |
2 | We have also cut two strips of the fabric measuring 1 ½” (3.8cm) wide by 20” (50.8cm) long. |
3 | We folded the strips in half in the width and pressed them flat with an iron, using light steam. |
