Embellished Prick-stitch Zipper

This lesson will teach you how to sew an embellished prick-stitched zipper. This type of zipper is the perfect choice when you are looking to add a decorative touch to a garment. You will learn how to prick stitch the zipper and then how to add mini pearls as you stitch. Apply this technique on the front of jackets, on the back of dresses or any place where you would like to add a sophisticated touch.

MODULE 1 • Lesson Prep

Step Description
1 Begin this lesson by preparing two pieces of fabric, in our case we are using silk shantung. Cut the fabric pieces so that they measure 4½” (11.4cm) in the width grain by 10” (25.4cm) in the length grain.
2 We will also prepare two pieces of fusible weft interfacing measuring 1” (2.5cm) wide by 10” (25.4cm) long.
3A Press your fusible interfacing strip onto the wrong side of the fabric along the length edge.
