This lesson will teach you how to drape a drop shoulder blouse with a banded collar, a button-through placket opening, a shirttail hem and long sleeves with a placket and cuff. The lesson begins by demonstrating how to measure, tear, block, press and mark your muslin guidelines in preparation for draping. You will learn the secret of how to control bust ease and redistribute it into the armhole for a dartless silhouette.

You will also learn how to make a front button and buttonhole placket and, using your straight sleeve sloper as a foundation, you will learn how to draft a long shirttail sleeve with a placket and cuff. MODULE 1 • LESSON PREP

Step Description
1 The first step when draping the drop shoulder blouse is to apply style tape to the dress form. Begin at the apex area, which is the fullest part of the bust. Tape from apex to apex.
2 Measure down 7” (17.8cm) to the middle of the waist tape and apply style tape, from center front to center back for the hipline. Make sure that your style tape is parallel to the floor.
3 Tape the shoulder level at ¼th the distance from neckline to the middle of the waist tape, at center back. Make sure that it is parallel to the floor.
