MODULE 1 • Analyzing Contemporary Female Fashion Figures

1 | In this lesson, I will be sketching a contemporary fashion figure using pencils and markers. I will also introduce you to various contemporary poses to inspire your creativity in capturing a modern attitude, so, let’s get started! |
2 | So, what makes this figure contemporary? Well, a lot of it is about her proportions. That means the sizes of her head, neck shoulders, torso, legs arms. Not to mention the way she is standing and the feeling of strength in her attitude and assertiveness. And, all of that helps to make a female drawing look contemporary. |
3 | So, what makes this figure contemporary? Again, it’s the proportion. It’s the exaggerated brim of the hat, and just the line of her stance, the high/low shoulder, the opposing waist and hips, and a good supporting leg stance. Then you have the relaxed leg and then here, just a subtle suggestion of a seaside landscape can place her in a specific setting and it can make people imagine the time of year. The season that would be appropriate for the clothing that is sketched on the figure. |
