Drafting a Women’s Knit Unitard
In this lesson, we will teach you how to draft a women’s knit unitard in 4-way knit stretch using the 4-way knit slopers that you drafted in the following lessons, Converting a Stable Knit T-shirt & Sleeve Sloper to 4-way Stretch Knit and Drafting a Legging. You will be able to use this unitard for all your dancewear and activewear designs.
Building upon our lessons Introduction to Knit Fabrics and Knit Fabric Principles, where you learned all about knit stretch ratios, and once you have drafted your set of knit slopers in our lesson, Drafting a Women’s T-Shirt & Sleeve Sloper from Measurements, you are ready to draft a unitard.
The knit slopers needed for this lesson can be found and drafted in our lesson Converting a Stable Knit T-shirt & Sleeve Sloper to 4-way Stretch Knit and Drafting a Legging. The fabric planned for this lesson is a cotton Lycra 4-way knit jersey.
