Drafting a Child’s Basic Pant (Pants)

You can either use our Child Pant (Pants) Sizing Chart or actual body measurements we will teach you how to draft a child’s basic pant sloper. In this lesson we will demonstrate how to extract the necessary measurements from a size 5 pant form and provide you with a handy measurement form for you to record those measurements. You will learn how to draft and fit the pants before you transfer the pant sloper to oaktag.

MODULE 1 • Lesson Prep

Step Description
1 Begin by finding the widest part of the child’s hip, and style tape on the dress form, making sure it’s parallel to the floor.
2A We will next record our pant form measurements on the downloadable form provided, or you could refer to our Standard Pant Measurement Chart.
2B First measurement will be the waist. So, center front to the side seam. Record your measurement.
