Crocheting a Shell Stitch

Crocheting a Shell Stitch

Crocheting a Shell Stitch

This stitch is the shell stitch, a classic old-fashioned shell stitch. You might recognize it from old shawls or your grandmom’s afghan laying around your house.  You probably thought it was incredibly complicated because it looks so delicate and intricate and it’s not really. Like all crochet stitches, it’s an ingenious combination of just two things: chains and double crochet stitches. Let’s learn on a sample, and then you can do a bigger piece with more stitches for a super cute shawl or an afghan.  So, let’s begin.
