Ruchira Amare

Ruchira Amare is an artist, fashion designer, fashion illustrator, based in New York City. Born and raised in Mumbai, India, her interdisciplinary practice bridges fashion, and fine art informed by both technical training and artistic inquiry.

Amare holds a degree in Engineering from the University of Mumbai and studied Fashion Design at Parsons The New School for Design. She has further developed her artistic practice through studies at the New York Academy of Art, the School of Visual Arts, and the National Institute of Photography in Mumbai. Her diverse educational background allows her to approach fashion and art with both conceptual depth and technical rigor.

Her work explores themes of nostalgia, memory, romanticism, and melancholia, often reflecting a sense of longing and emotional narrative. These themes are expressed through painting, fashion illustration, and analog photography.

Amare’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at Dacia Gallery, Greenpoint Gallery, Six Summit Gallery, Rochester Contemporary Art Center, Space 776, Colours of Humanity, and The Leo House. She has participated in an artist residency with Dacia Gallery and has been featured in publications such as Protest Magazine, Ante Magazine, and India.com.

As an educator, Amare brings real-world professional experience and a multidisciplinary perspective to her teaching, guiding students in developing strong conceptual foundations, craftsmanship, and a personal visual voice within fashion and art.
