Michael Bonauto
Michael is the vice president of technical design services for the Cole Haan and Andrew Marc divisions of GIII Apparel Group in New York City. He oversees all technical issues for the brands relating to fabric, trim, fit, make, testing, packaging, and compliance and hires, trains and directs the technical design staff.
Michael has spent more than 20 years in the fashion industry initially as a pattern maker and then in Italy at Compangnia delle Pelli a division of the Ruffo Group. He is knowledgeable in computer pattern making and his duties as a technical designer for various manufacturers, coordinated sampling, tech packs and evaluated spec sheets and fit. Michael was responsible for authoring and updating GIII’s Vendor Manual, outlining compliance issues, and has represented the company at numerous vendor seminars and off-site fittings.
At the University of Fashion, Michael teaches the art of specing garments and various other product development lessons such as how to create a tech pack.
