Student Spotlight: Fashion & Style Blogger Pip Addis

We recently received the most wonderful testimonial from Pip Addis, University of Fashion student and author of style blog Easy Outfits, by Pip.

“I just want to say that I am eternally grateful for this amazing site as it is truly helping me so much on my journey as a self-taught fashion designer!  This concept of offering courses online is easy for me to follow, and I love that I can pause and come back when I get more time to continue working.  I just upgraded to 1 year as I know that I will learn so much!  This is really the greatest thing that has happened to me in a long time and I thank you again!”

We asked Pip to share a little bit about herself, her passion for style and what led her to the University of Fashion:

“I have always had an extreme love for high fashion and beautiful clothing.  My love of fashion started as a child as I admired my stylish grandmother from New York.  She wore gorgeous clothing, expensive fragrances and had this amazing mink fur coat hanging in her closet.  I used to pet her fur coat and dream of owning one when I was older.  At 15, I took  local modeling classes and discovered runway fashion was something that I was truly passionate about.

Though I loved fashion, I spent the majority of my time figure skating and went on to become a professional figure skater. I toured the country for 6 years with Disney On Ice following my high school graduation.  It was truly an amazing experience!  However, due to the rigorous schedule, I burnt out, realizing I had little time to skate for enjoyment and stopped skating completely.  I felt lost and devoid of passion until I had my son (now 3) and the reason I have rediscovered my love of fashion.  My son made me want to find something that I loved again.  I was inspired to use the talent that I left behind with skating, this time in the field of fashion.  Every free second was spent studying fashion and runway, and eventually I started my style blog, Easy Outfits, by Pip, as a creative outlet.

On my blog, I share style tips and offer simple looks that others can easily wear.  This past January, I started teaching myself to hand sew, and from there got a machine and decided that fashion designing was something that I was truly meant to do.  I once again felt passionate and that strong love of doing something I love.

Now, I spend every free second devoting my time to teaching myself fashion design and sewing techniques in hopes of eventually opening up my own shop online.  The University of Fashion has truly made it possible for me to feel confident that I can learn draping and fashion illustration on my own.  With lots and lots of practice, I plan to make my dreams come true.”

We look forward to Pip’s bright fashion future.  Do you have an inspirational story of your own?  The University of Fashion would love to hear about it.  Write us and you may find yourself featured in our next Student Spotlight.
