Pattern Making and Draping Winner: Chanica Pitaksakorn

Chanica is not only from Bangkok, Thailand and a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she is also the winner in two categories of our Student Spotlight contest.  Chanica tells us that she is new to the United States and when her notes from class are not as accurate as she would like, she uses the University of Fashion videos to supplement her learning.  For example, although she notes that she is doing well in her draping class and understands working in 3D form, she used our Straight Skirt Sloper and Princess Bodice video to clear up her remaining questions following class.  We are very impressed with her immaculate final product.

As our Pattern Making winner, Chanica took great care to to label the Bishop Sleeve she patterned.  She also demonstrated her knowledge of the “slash and spread” method in order to create volume in her sleeve.  We think Chanica has a bright future in fashion and we look forward to supporting her goals in her classes at FIT.  Chanica, please keep us posted on your progress and enjoy your $100 gift certificate to Amazon.com!
