All About Leather

Nicolas Ghesquiére’s debut collection for Louis Vuitton in Paris last week has launched a love affair with leather for Fall 2014.  In A Dozen Girls,  Juergen Teller captures both the inspiration and the artistry behind Ghesquiére’s FW14 collection for Louis Vuitton.  Ghesquiére himself calls his team, “the best in the world” in terms of their knowledge and workmanship and Nicole Phelps of Style.com claims that outside of Ghesquiére’s collection, “You won’t find a more luxurious coat than the black crocodile … or a jacket as well made as the one he patchworked in different colored leathers.”  How do designers begin working with leather?  The University of Fashion has created a series of videos dedicated to working with leather to answer that question.  Read on… Read More

We are especially eager to act as a resource for anyone interested in a fashion career and as a tutor for fashion design students enrolled in design programs around the world. This week, we would like to highlight our very first library affiliation with the well known Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) located in the heart of New York City’s Garment District. As one of the oldest fashion schools in the country, founded in 1944, FIT has graduated some of the most renown designers in the industry: Calvin Klein, Norma Kamali and Michael Kors, to name a few.
