Fall/Winter 2015 NYFW Trend Report

- - Fashion Shows, Trends

From pleats to plaids to oversized puffers, New York Fashion Week is in full swing. It may be the freezing temperatures and biting wind chill here in New York, but bundled up, big and cozy seem to be on par for not only fashion week spectators, but on the runway for Fall/Winter 2015 as well. In terms of color palette, much like those in line at the theaters, the runways seem to be filled with 50 shades of grey (and well, camel). Though NYFW fashion week has a few shows left to go, here are the trends we are spotting so far for Fall/Winter 2015.

Oversized outerwear. For Fall/Winter 2015 designers are not shying away from volume. Whether it’s Public School’s sleeping bag-esque parka (complete with a springtime wishful thinking placement of the “white t-shirt” inset) or Victoria Beckham’s more tailored version of oversized, designers are going big for Fall/Winter 2015.

Plaid. The oversized trend continues, but this time in plaids of equal proportion. Edun featured a traditional Glen plaid mixed with houndstooth, while Public School continued the larger than life theme with the above grey, black and royal blue stunner.

Fur. Again, oversized rules the runway. And again, plaid makes an appearance at Altuzarra. However, both Altuzarra and Hood by Air (among many others) featured fur as well for Fall/Winter 2015.

BiasSlipped underneath the voluminous outerwear this season, were delicate bias cut pieces. It’s been diagonal hems for days on the runway as seen above in Victoria Beckham’s knit vest and underneath Prabal Gurung’s fur-lined jacket.  Now it’s your turn. Spot any trends we’ve missed?
