If you are like most students we know, you have just completed a successful fall semester and are looking forward to a little rest and relaxation over the holiday break. However, once the last package is opened and you can’t imagine another bite of Aunt Edna’s fruitcake, why not sharpen your skills or get a jump start on next semester with our newest CAD videos. Our gift to you this holiday season – 4 new videos – just released!
First up, learn how to create both flat drawings and fashion croquis in Illustrator. You will learn how fashion illustrations and technical sketches differ in their uses, as well as useful features in Illustrator that you can apply to your work.
Next, we will teach you how to create a croquis template for the basic women’s front flat t-shirt. The below video will show you how to draw the body, necklines and sleeves, again, using the tools available to you in Illustrator.
In Working with Layers, we will introduce you to Layers and the Layers Panel, and demonstrate how they help you organize your work. You will learn to Add, Delete and Arrange Layers, as well as how to Select and Move objects from one layer to another.
And finally, we will teach you what you need to know about Illustrator’s Pathfinder Panel and show you how three of its commands –Pathfinder Unite, Pathfinder Divide and Pathfinder Exclude- can simplify and speed up your design process.
Keep your design skills sharp during your holiday break OR get ahead of the game in terms of next semester’s curriculum. Be sure to visit our entire CAD section of the U of F’s recently updated website for additional how-to videos. If your New Year’s resolution is to apply for technical design jobs, these videos will be required viewing. As always, we want to support you – if there are specific CAD videos that would be helpful for your course of study or job hunt, let us know.
