Big News for 2015

- - Site News

2015 isn’t officially here yet and already, we are celebrating! With so much to look forward to, the New Year can’t get here fast enough. Take a look to see what’s in store for the University of Fashion in 2015…

We are wasting no time – on January 26th, the University of Fashion will officially launch our entire library of videos with the Westchester County Library System. With over 38 libraries and 450,000 library patrons, the U of F will provide fashion design instruction for one of our largest audiences to date. We will be featured in Westchester County’s Makerspaces as well as accessible to their patrons from home. A gala kick off event is scheduled for January 26th, 2015 where press will be in attendance, not to mention a few fashion industry heavy hitters. Stay tuned for more information on this anticipated event!

As if reaching 450,000 library patrons wasn’t enough, we are launching the U of F library with our first fashion company, GIII Apparel Group. More than 1,200 employees will have access to the U of F content. On our resolution list for 2015? Recruiting additional companies that wish to provide their employees with the top quality instructional videos the University of Fashion has to offer.

New video just added, with many more to come in 2015!

Finally, we will be adding 100 new videos to our site in 2015. Just as important as growing our audience is expanding our instructional library. Videos currently in production include a series focused on textiles, a hand-knitting series and many more pattern making lessons (a straight skirt, various forms of the circle skirt and dart manipulation lessons are just the tip of the new pattern making video iceberg). We will also be adding a variety of videos featuring couture sewing techniques, and CAD lessons, including instructional videos on using Illustrator and Photoshop for fashion design. Did we mention a Retail Math series as well as guest interviews featuring costume historian Valerie Steele and designer Vicky Tiel? Whew!

As always, we are resolved to bringing the best teachers to our viewers, preserving the art and craft of fashion and making learning fashion fun for our designers. Wishing you a wonderful 2015 – be sure to let us know what your fashion-related resolutions are in the New Year, and more importantly, how we can help you make your goals a reality.
